(Host) Thetford voters have approved a non-binding referendum in support of capital improvements at Thetford Academy. The academy is a private school that serves as high school for Thetford and surrounding towns.

The vote on the referendum was 450 to 316.

Renovations could cost more than $10 million, roughly half of which will be funded by the town through increased tuition beginning in 2009.

Property taxes as well as tuition for students from other towns are expected to increase.
