Summer theater holds an incredible pull to many people in our region.  As the snow melts actors begin to warm up their vocal chords.  Set designers pull out their tools.  And directors begin to envision who they want to cast for their lead roles.

The fun starts for the rest of us when the curtain finally goes up and that’s happening around the region right now.

Lynn Leimer is CEO and Artistic Director at QNEK Productions, the company in residence at the Haskell Opera House in Derby Line.  Scott Belt is the Vice President of the Springfield Community Players.  Jennifer Howard chairs the board of The Valley Players, a community theater group in Waitsfield. Kim Bent is the Artistic Director and founder of Lost Nation Theater in Montpelier.

They spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about what makes the lure of being part of a of summer theater special and about the range of professional and community theater offerings across Vermont.
