During the flooding caused by Hurricane Irene, many Vermonters found time to take pictures of the devastation. Pictures of washed out roads, collapsed homes and standing water in streets were as common as the flood waters were devastating.

Caleb Kenna is a professional photographer from Brandon. He took to the streets of his hometown to capture the scenes of the flooding. He spoke with VPR’s Peter Biello about what it takes to capture the scenes of devastation in a photo that tells a story.

Kenna’s photographs of scenes in India are currently exhibiting at Green Mountain College.
