Texas landfill search for computer fruitless

Texas authorities have stopped looking in a landfill for a computer allegedly containing child pornography and other evidence connected to the abduction and killing of a 12-year-old Vermont girl.

According to a report by WOAI-TV in San Antonio late last month, the FBI spent days searching a dump for a computer belonging to Raymond Gagnon, the former stepfather of Brooke Bennett.

Gagnon, 40, faces obstruction of justice charges in Bennett’s disappearance and Michael Jacques, Brooke’s uncle, has been charged with her kidnapping.

Bennett’s body was found July 2 in a shallow grave a week after she disappeared in Randolph.

Police say Gagnon told his landlord to throw out a safe containing the computer as investigators narrowed in on him and Jacques.
