Tentative agreement has been reached on expanding the Statehouse.

Negotiators from the House and Senate decided to scale back the plans for the building, but have agreed to create more space after years of debating it.

The general plan calls for construction of a third floor in the rear of the building for larger House committee rooms.

It would cost an estimated $4.6 million to build the expansion.
