Vermont transportation officials say a temporary bridge and road built in Richmond are ready to open.
The bridge and road, at the Checkered House Bridge on Route 2, will open Wednesday.
The two-lane bridge over the Winooski River is next to a 1929 bridge that’s now undergoing two years’ worth of repairs.
Vermont Agency of Transportation officials say the temporary bridge will let traffic flow smoothly while construction is under way at the permanent bridge. That will wrap up in late spring 2013.
