Vermont State Police say an 18-year-old man from Quebec died yesterday when he lost control while skiing and slammed into a tree on the side of a groomed trail.

The man, whose identity hasn’t been released pending notification of his next-of-kin, was treated at Sugarbush and then taken by ambulance to Central Vermont Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the man was on a day trip to Sugarbush with a group of friends when the accident happened.
