A Vermont teenager hopes to be the youngest person ever to hike the length of the Eastern seaboard. Nineteen-year-old Heather Martin has just completed the 275-mile Long Trail in Vermont. She’s now preparing to hike the length of four other trail systems that span from the Florida Keys to the Canadian border. Martin anticipates taking a year to complete the nearly 5,200 miles of the trail system.
Her time on the trail is a fundraising effort for the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. Martin is a longtime participant in Conservation Corps programs and says she hopes her Eastern seaboard hike will help youth and help the environment.
