Teachers to open ‘crisis headquarters’ for possible strike

Teachers in the Windham Southeast Education Association say they’ll open a “crisis headquarters” tomorrow afternoon.

They say the headquarters will open in preparation for the possibility of a strike next week.

Contracts expired in August for teachers in Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford, Putney, and Vernon, and also at the Windham Regional Career Center.

A mediator has been called in for a session on Saturday, but if that isn’t successful, teachers have a strike vote planned for next Wednesday.

One of the main issues is an increase in the percentage teachers pay for health insurance.
