Teacher Negotiations Continue In Bennington

(Host) Another set of negotiations continued Tuesday in Bennington.

Teachers and members of the school boards in the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union began talking about a contract settlement again this morning.

Teachers walked off their jobs last week when they’d failed again to resolve their differences. The district has been without a contract since 2010.

The outstanding issues include wages and how much teachers have to pay toward their health insurance premiums.

There’s also a dispute over how much of their day teachers spend with students.

Negotiators say they may work well into the night because they’ve been making progress.

In the meantime, all of the roughly 3,000 students in the district had another day off today.
