The Tarrant Foundation is donating $5 million to the University of Vermont to help expand statewide a middle school technology program.

The goal of the Learning and Engaging Adolescents Project run by the new Tarrant Institute for Innovative Learning at the University of Vermont is to have the program in place at middle schools across the state within the next 10 years.

The gift and the program were announced Monday at UVM.

The program will provide schools with hardware and software and training to help teachers integrate technology into the school day.

The program was developed at UVM funding from the Tarrant Foundation and teachers at middle schools in Burlington and Milton.
