Fire officials in Burlington say a suspicious fire has destroyed a 130-year-old barn at the Intervale Center.
Police responding to a burglar alarm early yesterday found a broken window at the Intervale Center’s Office, and while they were investigating, a fire broke out in a barn behind the main building.
Firefighters raced to prevent the fire from spreading, but flying embers also started a fire in the woods nearby. Both were extinguished.
Assistant Burlington Fire Marshal Thomas Middleton says police are seeking a person of interest in the case.
