Survey shows Kirby residents against wind turbines

A recent survey has found that a majority of property owners in Kirby do not want to see wind turbines in their town. The town sent out 550 surveys. Of the 177 that were returned, 70% – or 124 respondents – say they are opposed to wind farms. Forty-one residents say they support wind farms and 12 are undecided.

The Vermont Public Power Supply Authority has been looking at suitable sites wind generation near Kirby, including two state forests. Company officials say they are waiting for a decision from the state whether wind power can be generated on state land.
