Supreme Court rebukes assistant judge

The Vermont Supreme Court has publicly reprimanded an assistant judge. A state judicial conduct board found that Windsor County Assistant Judge William Boardman misused his official position to oppose a science center near his home.

Boardman lives near the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, which had applied for permits to expand. Boardman and some other neighbors were part of a long battle with VINS.

The Vermont Judicial Conduct Board says three incidents violated the state code of judicial conduct. The codes prohibit judges from using a judicial office to advance private interests.
