Expect delays, smooth surfaces, new bridges and culverts.
The Agency of Transportation is kicking off its summer construction season, spending about $130 million improving sections of interstates and roads around Vermont.
Most of the projects were picked last fall by state engineers.
In Washington county, the state plans to replace a bridge on Interstate 89 south between Berlin and Montpelier and on Route 12 in Middlesex.
In Waterbury, crews plan to install a traffic light to ease backups at the intersection with the off ramp of Interstate 89 and Route 100.
And in Rutland, several sections of Route 7 will be repaved.
Besides the planned projects, the agency also will apply a thin layer of pavement to about 80 miles of state road damaged this winter.
