Suit filed over South Royalton School addition

A group of people in Royalton are suing to force a new vote on a school construction project approved by voters last fall.

Bill Benoit and David McCullough, opponents of the $3.8 million addition at South Royalton School, filed a lawsuit last month asking Windsor Superior Court to order a second vote on the plan for a 14,000-square foot addition to the school.

Fewer than one third of registered voters cast ballots on the proposition, and Benoit and McCullough say a second vote would more fairly reflect Royalton voters’ wishes.
