A new study says Vermont ranks last in the country in the number of homes that only have cell phones.
A study found that 5.1 percent of Vermont households have only cell phones.
New Hampshire ranked 33rd with 11.6 percent of households being cell phone only; while Maine 31st with 13.4 percent.
Oklahoma and Utah lead the way in substituting cell phones for land lines. At least one in four households in those states are wireless-only. Nebraska, Arkansas, Idaho and Iowa are close behind.
The figures are in estimates released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It was the first state-by-state estimate of how many households are replacing land lines with cell phones.
