A new study says the proposed expansion of the Interstate 91 border crossing in Derby Line will have a substantial impact on the community.

The study commissioned by the village says the findings warrant more consideration and possible mitigation by the federal government.

It found that the village and town will lose taxable commercial property and property taxes through the port-of-entry expansion.

The report also says the border crossing work threaten to damage water and sewer lines and increased truck traffic on Route 5 will harm village streets.
