Strong thunderstorms rolling through Vermont left thousands without power at one point, though service is being restored.

Central Vermont Public Service is currently reporting 1,000 customers without power. That was down from a high of nearly 11,000 shortly after the storm hit at 8 p.m..

CVPS says Rutland County was hardest hit.

The company says there were reports of more than a half-dozen broken power poles in the Rutland area and that reported wind gusts of up to 50 mph downed many lines and tree limbs.
