A 63-year-old Stafford man has been charged with cruelty to animals for allegedly poisoning two dogs.

Vermont State Police say James Bailey intentionally poisoned two dogs near his home in October by feeding hamburger laced with antifreeze.

Police say Bailey was upset because the dogs had been running around on his property.

If convicted, Bailey could face up to a year in prison.
