Stowe grapples with sewage smell

The town of Stowe is considering legal action over a bad odor wafting from its new sewage treatment plant. The $19 million plant went on line in the spring, but neighbors have been complaining ever since about bad smells.

Town Administrator John Drury says that the smells appear in little puffs, usually every few days. Engineers for the company that installed the plant have been working on the problem but haven’t found a way to fix it.

Drury says the town has told Penta Corporation, which installed the filtering system, that it’s considering legal action.
