Officials in Stowe say there was no threat to the environment or public health when 4,000 gallons of fuel oil leaked from a boiler during the weekend.

Officials say the oil from the malfunctioning boiler went into a floor drain and then into holding tanks maintained by the municipal waste water treatment system.

The leak was said not to have reached the ground or the municipal water supply.

Crews were on the scene Monday cleaning up the oil.
