Sterling College recently announced that it will become only third higher education institution in the nation to divest from fossil fuels. Other Vermont schools are considering this: students at UVM have collected signatures and submitted a formal proposal for divestment and administrators at Middlebury College have started a series of hearings to discuss the possibility of divesting.

The national divestment campaign started by environmental 350.org is encouraging more colleges and universities to take the step. Sterling College President Matthew Derr explains how and why Sterling is divesting.
