States slow to ban restaurant trans fats

State lawmakers from Connecticut to California, including in New Hampshire, are looking at copying New York City’s ban on artery-clogging trans fats from restaurants.

But in New Hampshire and in the 13 other states that have so far proposed restrictions, not a single bill has been passed as the year draws to a close.

The New Hampshire House last year considered a bill banning trans fats from restaurants, but lawmakers later changed the legislation to study trans fats served in public schools. That legislation passed the House but was killed in the Senate.
