Governor Jim Douglas’ weekly news conferences are likely to be back on public-access cable television soon, with his own staff doing the camera work.

Regular broadcasts of Douglas’ meetings with reporters ended in July, when the contract expired for the company that was filming them.

More recently, House Speaker Gaye Symington has also been providing Statehouse news junkies with a weekly half-hour show.

Douglas spokesman Jason Gibbs says beginning this week, the governor’s news conferences will be taped by the governor’s staff. The tapes will be distributed to community-access cable channels around the state.
