A Vermont State Police Trooper from the St. Johnsbury barracks was involved in a shooting incident Tuesday night in the parking lot of the Danville School. The injured suspect, who has not been named, is in stable condition and is being treated at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

The trooper, whose name is also being withheld, has been placed on administrative leave with pay, pending an investigation.

The State Police Crime Scene Search Team is examining the scene. Also investigating are the Caledonia State Attorney’s Office and the Attorney General’s office. Police say the school was closed and unoccupied at the time and that there was no threat to students or the surrounding community.
