State to begin testing for West Nile Virus

The state will start testing dead birds for West Nile Virus this week.

This is the eight year that the Health Department has documented the spread of the disease, which is transmitted by infected mosquitoes.

So far no humans have contradicted West Nile Virus in Vermont.

But of the 930 dead birds tested last year, nine were infected with the virus.
