State Searches For Life Insurance Beneficiaries

The Vermont treasurer’s office says it’s trying to find about 2,500 people who are owed around $2 million in unclaimed life insurance payments.

Treasurer Beth Pearce says her office has received the money as the result of a multi-state initiative to require life insurance companies to pay out on old, sometimes forgotten, policies.

Vermonters can see if they’re due any money through a website hosted by the treasurer’s office.

The site can be found on the Life Insurance Policies page at missingMoney.Vermont.gov
