Governor Peter Shumlin and legislative budget writers are set to gather today to hear a revenue forecast.

Thursday afternoon’s presentations by two consulting economists is expected to provide updated data on how the economic recovery is progressing in Vermont and the country and give the administration and lawmakers a sense of what to expect revenues to do in the coming fiscal year.

One big looming question is what effect the debt ceiling crisis in Washington might have on the state, particularly if it isn’t resolved.

Recent revenue news has generally been positive. Last week, Administration Secretary Jeb Spaulding announced the state had finished the fiscal year better off than earlier forecasts indicated.
