Don’t make any sudden and drastic moves. That’s the advice from the state Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration as Vermonters contemplate the troubled financial markets.

The department is urging people to get well informed – and to seek professional advice – before making any big financial moves at all.

John Cronin, the department’s director of securities, says his office has not been getting a lot of calls from worried investors.

Kevin Austin, a broker at Moors & Cabot Financial Services in Rutland, says his clients are expressing concern but not panic about their investments.
