State cutting hours at historic sites

Some Vermont state historic sites won’t be open as much this summer as they have been in the past.

The Agency of Commerce and Community Development says four of the 11 state historic sites that are staffed with guides will not be open as many days as before.

The sites include the Hubbardton Battlefield, the Hyde Log Cabin in Grand Isle, Justin Smith Morrill Homestead in Strafford, Old Constitution House in Windsor, and the Chester A. Arthur birthplace.

The Old Constitution House in Windsor is where the first constitution in the United States to outlaw slavery was signed. It will only be open 63 days this year, compared with 100 days last year.
