Standardization sought for state building health complaints

Vermont officials are hoping to standardize the way complaints are handled about health problems in state buildings.

Buildings Commissioner Tasha Wallis says a new protocol establishes when the Health Department would get involved and improves communication between agencies and state workers.

In Bennington six current or former employees have been diagnosed with sarcoidosis, a debilitating disease thought to be an immune disorder with no known cause.

The state said in October that it would move the workers out of the building and into temporary offices but only completed the move last month.
