Springfield police department votes no confidence in chief

Members of the Springfield Police Department want a new chief.

The officers cited a hostile work environment in casting no confidence votes in Chief Doug Johnston.

The chief has not commented on the vote.

The union members complain Johnston treats them in a demeaning and insulting way.

It was the second time in five years the department has voted no confidence in Johnston.

Officers have also filed an unfair labor practice against Johnston and voted no confidence vote for town administrators, who the officers feel have done nothing for the last five years about their complaints.
