Sorrell and Diocese to Meet Again on Child Abuse Cases

(Host) Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell says he plans to meet next Tuesday with representatives of the Catholic Diocese of Burlington. The meeting is the third between authorities and church officials.

Sorrell has asked to see all the information the church has on sexual abuse of minors by any priest or church employee still living, regardless of the time of the alleged incident. The lawyer for the diocese has indicated he will turn over only that information dating back to 1982. Vermont’s statute of limitations makes it difficult to prosecute cases before that time.
