Some traveling to D.C.; others celebrating in Vermont

Hundreds of Vermonters are headed to Washington today – or are already there – to participate in festivities surrounding the inauguration of Barack Obama as president.

But others are celebrating closer to home, with parties planned in Bennington, Rutland, Middlebury, Burlington and elsewhere.

At Montpelier City Hall, revelers will watch the inauguration on television at midday and then dance into the evening – including with a cardboard cutout of the new president.

In Bennington, the county Democrats are expected to pack the Madison Brewing Company pub and restaurant in the town center.
