Many of the Vermont Guard soldiers serving in Afghanistan have rarely left the confines of a large military base during their deployment.

Nearly two-thirds of the fifteen-hundred troops are at sprawling Bagram Airfield. Another large group is stationed at Camp Phoenix in Kabul.

Overseeing that group is Captain David Fabricius of North Rupert. On his recent trip to Afghanistan, VPR’s Steve Zind talked with Fabricius about his job which he refers to as a "Human Resources Officer for his battalion.
