Soldier Shares Story Of Motherhood, Military Service

(Host) Chara Vincelette was one of the women who spoke last week at the Women’s History Project, as the Vermont Commission on Women celebrated the state’s women Veterans with events around Montpelier.

Vincelette started her service with the Vermont National Guard right out of high school and recently returned from deployment in Afghanistan. She’s now the Student Resources Advisor for Veterans at the Community College of Vermont.

Vincelette joined the military as a way to challenge herself. Her military resume is eclectic-she played in the Army band, served as a medic, then as a logistics officer in the Army Mountain Warfare School. Later she transferred to the 86th brigade. But Vincelette says deployment was still in the back, not the forefront, of her mind,
