Smoking Ban Proposed For Parts Of Vt. State Parks

Vermont officials are considering smoking bans in parts of state parks, in highly public areas such as beaches and playgrounds.

A public hearing is being held on the idea Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Agency of Natural Resources’ district office in Essex Junction. The proposal would need to be approved by a legislative committee.

Smoking would still be allowed in most other parts of parks, such as in campgrounds.

Craig Whipple of Vermont State Parks tells WCAX-TV the proposal is being considered out of respect for people who have had their recreational experience tainted by someone else’s smoking.
