A new batch of swine flu cases was confirmed on Thursday by the Vermont Health Department.

An additional six people tested positive for the new strain of the flu, bringing the total in the state so far to 14.

The Health Department says the cases have been confirmed in five counties.

All of the people who’ve come down with the flu have either recovered by now, or are recovering at home. None has had to be hospitalized.

The Health Department says the increase in confirmed cases can be explained by the higher number of test samples that have been submitted to its lab for analysis.

Health Commissioner Wendy Davis says the flu cases have been relatively mild. But she says people should still take care to cover coughs and thoroughly wash their hands.
