Shumlin To Sign Energy Bill

Governor Peter Shumlin is slated to sign into law a bill to give a boost to homemade electricity and put new restrictions on the charges people can be hit with by their propane providers.

Shumlin is set this week to sign an omnibus energy bill into law that also contains provisions helping people finance renewable energy and efficiency efforts in their homes.

The bill contains provisions that would increase the amount of electricity people could make at home and then sell to their electric company, in a process called net metering.

And it contains provisions that block propane dealers from charging customers for using too little of the fuel.
