Shumlin Says VT Should Improve Marketing To Minorities

Gov. Peter Shumlin says Vermont’s main tourism website needs to do a better job reflecting the state’s growing diversity.

Shumlin’s comment follows recent criticisms from the Brattleboro-based Vermont Partnership for Fairness and Diversity. The group says out of 187 people pictured on the VermontVacation.com website in early June, there was one picture showing two African-American musicians.

The group’s Curtiss Reed Jr. says after he raised a concern, a video made during the Douglas administration of Putney barbecue restaurant owner Curtis Tuffs was added to the site.

Shumlin says the state needs to do better, and that his aides are working on it.
