Shumlin Disagrees With Sanders On Obama Primary Challenge

Gov. Peter Shumlin says he disagrees with Sen. Bernie Sanders’ call for someone to challenge President Obama from the left in next year’s Democratic primaries.

Sanders said this week that he would like to see a challenger to the president to encourage Obama to keep more of the promises he made during the 2008 campaign.

Shumlin says he doesn’t think that’s a good idea. The first-term governor calls Obama "the smartest person I’ve ever met." He says the president is doing a great job and that Democrats and progressives should work to get him re-elected.
