The Waterbury Police Department is getting help from the Vermont Sheriff’s Association to continue its recovery after flooding from Tropical Storm Irene inundated its downtown headquarters.

Waterbury Chief Joby Feccia says the $10,000 donation will be used to buy computers and computer equipment, a short term evidence locker and a safe for long-term evidence storage.

The Aug. 28 storm destroyed some of the police department’s equipment and it lost the use of its building.

Feccia says he was contacted by Washington County Sheriff Samuel Hill to see if the association could help the Waterbury department.

The Sheriff’s association also made a donation to the Wilmington police department.
