New Hampshire Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter says she’s starting an effort to help New Hampshire’s veterans records their stories and preserve them for future generations.

She’s taking part in the Veterans History Project, which is sponsored by the Library of Congress.

Shea-Porter’s office will be working with local veterans groups, service organizations, and others to raise the profile of the Veterans History Project and to encourage more veterans to record their stories on video, audio or print.

Although the project has been in existence for seven years, fewer than 150 New Hampshire veterans have recorded their stories.

The Manchester Veterans Administration Medical Center has set up a recording studio for the purpose of conducting interviews with veterans. Stories can also be recorded at home, on audio or video, and sent in to the Veterans History Project directly.
