Shaw’s supermarket planned for Waterbury

There could be a new supermarket off Interstate 89 in Waterbury. A proposal to build a 59,000-square-foot Shaw’s supermarket has received a state land-use permit. The Act 250 permit clears the final major hurdle that will allow construction to begin.

A new traffic light will be installed at the junction of Route 100 and the Shaw’s access road. Opponents of the project say they’re disappointed, but they haven’t decided whether they will appeal. Developers say construction can’t begin before next year.
