Shaheen to address convention

Former New Hampshire Governor and current U.S. Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen will address the Democratic National Convention in Denver next Wednesday.

Shaheen will address the need for a ‘new direction’ for America’s families.

She is to be joined on stage by New York Senator Charles Schumer, who chairs the Senate Democrats’ campaign efforts, as well as Senate challengers Tom Udall of New Mexico, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, and Tom Allen of Maine.

The evening’s theme is "Securing America’s Future."

Senator Patrick Leahy is scheduled to address the DNC next Tuesday, when the party plans to highlight the theme of "Renewing America’s Promise".

Leahy will take a turn speaking to the delegates along with a several other governors and senators.

The headline prime-time speaker will be New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, who was defeated by Illinois Senator Barack Obama in the primaries.
