Senate Takes Testimony on Reapportionment

(Host) A map of new Vermont House legislative districts has won final approval. And now a committee of the state Senate is scrutinizing the House’s work.

Within less than two hours of the bill passing the House, the Senate committee began taking testimony on it. That’s unusual because the Senate typically redraws its own districts and leaves House districts largely alone.

But with Democrats in charge of the Senate and the House in Republican hands, the situation is different this year. Senators say they’re concerned about whether the House districts are fair. House leaders say they are.
