Senate Considers Donor Anonymity Amendment

The Vermont Senate considers a bill today that will grant anonymity to donors who give to the University of Vermont and other public colleges in the state. 

The measure is an amendment to a bill that’s already been approved by the House. UVM says it’s necessary because donors are not public entities and have a right to their privacy. 

But Mike Donoghue strongly disagrees. He’s the executive director of the Vermont Press Association. Donoghue tells VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb the supporters and opponents of the anonymity bill are easy to identify.
