Search for missing Middlebury College student resuming Thursday

The snow is beginning to recede in Middlebury, and officials there will to try again Thursday in their search for a 19-year-old freshman who’s been missing since February 5th.

Police Chief Tom Hanley says preparations are under way for resumption of the ground search.

Hanley says common walkways and open areas have lost snow cover, but that the lingering cold is making ground search conditions difficult in some areas where the snow and ice are still 18 inches deep.

Nicholas Garza of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was last seen after leaving a party. Extensive searches, including the use of ground-penetrating radar, have been fruitless so far.
