Search For Buried Remains Called Off Until Spring

Vermont State Police investigators say they’ve given up – for now – a search for the remains of a 78-year-old Westford grandmother believed buried in woods behind an elementary school.

Prosecutors say Mary Wilcox, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, was shot to death by her daughter, 59-year-old Jeanne Sevigny, who then burned in her body in a backyard fire pit. Sevigny’s son told police he and a friend buried a suitcase containing the remains in woods behind Westford Elementary School three years ago.

Snow, frozen ground and not knowing exactly where the remains were buried have now prompted investigators to call off the search until spring.
